Abstract
For decades, the global fossil trade has been flooded with fossils from Morocco. This is true even for plain objects such as brachiopods. Fossils from the small Atlantic island of Mogador, off the coast of Essaouira in Morocco, demonstrate that trade in such fossils began already in Roman times, and that the modern fossil trade can help to shed light on historical trade relations.
