[When the Whale Bones came to Oberneuland]
Abstract
300 years ago wealthy Bremen citizens began to discover Oberneuland as summer residence. These were mainly merchants, who owed their wealth not only to trade but also to whaling. Arches and fence posts made of whalebones were a kind of fashion that time and ship owners and merchants ordered whale bones for their yards and gardens from their captains.
