[Bone Finds from the Terp Mound of Ellens]
Abstract
The village of Ellens is located on a moraine elevation in the Lower Saxony marshland. In medieval times it was several times stricken by storm floods, among these by the second Marcellusflut, which destroyed the church. Excavations in the church wharf yielded a small assemblage of animal bones. With the exception of one hare bone all belonged to domestic mammals (cattle, horse, pig, sheep and goat).
