Abstract
In 1557 the skipper and merchant Cordt Hemeling died in Shetland under unsettled circumstances. One of his crew members was subsequently accused of manslaughter. But was this verdict really justified? This blog investigates the surviving witness accounts under the aspect of present day medical knowledge.
